Primary Ready Programme

A confident start to Primary 1 begins before the first day

Give your child the confidence to take the next big step

Starting Primary 1 is a major milestone. New routines, greater independence and a more structured classroom can feel exciting, but also unfamiliar. The Beaconhouse Primary Ready Programme helps your child experience that transition in a nurturing environment, so they can begin school feeling secure, capable and ready to learn.

In four purposeful weeks, children strengthen core skills in English, Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics while building the confidence, independence and classroom habits they need for a positive start.

A new choice for parents. The same important question.

From 2027, eligible children may begin Year 1 at age six. For parents, this creates a meaningful choice. But readiness is about more than age or academic ability. It is also about whether a child can follow routines, communicate their needs, work with others and approach new experiences with confidence.

Our programme gives children a gentle introduction to Primary school life and gives parents clearer insight into how ready their child feels for the transition.

Help your child feel ready for Primary 1

Every child develops at a different pace. The Primary Ready Programme supports the whole child, helping them feel familiar with what comes next rather than pressured to perform.

  1. Stronger foundations.

Build reading, writing, communication and numeracy skills through engaging activities.
  2. Greater independence.

Practise managing belongings, following instructions and completing age-appropriate tasks.
  3. Real classroom confidence.

Become familiar with Primary classroom routines, group learning and speaking in front of others.
  4. A nurturing transition.

Learn in a small-group setting where encouragement, curiosity and progress matter.
  5. Open to all.

Children from Beaconhouse and other preschools are welcome.

What is the Primary Ready Programme (PRP)?
The PRP helps children prepare for Primary 1 by developing confidence, independence, classroom routines and foundational school-readiness skills.
Who may join the PRP?
Children aged 5 or 6 who are preparing to enter Primary 1 may join, whether they currently attend a Beaconhouse or non-Beaconhouse preschool and regardless of which primary school they plan to attend. Participation does not require a commitment to enrol at Beaconhouse.
Can children with additional learning or support needs join?
Parents must inform the school before registration of any known or previously identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), developmental concerns, learning difficulties or additional support requirements. The school will consider each child’s individual needs and whether appropriate support can reasonably be provided. Please also see Question 9 regarding needs identified during the programme.
What fees are payable?
All participants pay a RM1,000 booking fee. Children from non-Beaconhouse preschools also pay a RM400 resource fee, bringing their total to RM1,400. The RM400 resource fee is waived for existing Beaconhouse preschool students.
What happens to the RM1,000 booking fee?
The RM1,000 is a non-refundable booking fee under normal withdrawal circumstances. If the child subsequently enrols in Primary 1 at Beaconhouse Sri Lethia or Beaconhouse Sri Murni, the full RM1,000 will be credited towards the child’s first-term tuition fees. This is a tuition credit, not a cash refund.
Is the booking fee refundable if we choose another primary school or withdraw?
No. If parents withdraw during or after the PRP, or choose not to proceed with Primary 1 enrolment at Beaconhouse Sri Lethia or Sri Murni, the RM1,000 booking fee will be forfeited. The exception for circumstances where Beaconhouse cannot support a child’s assessed needs is explained in the Question on resource fee
What happens to November preschool fees already paid?
Parents who have fully paid their November fees at Bunga Raya or another Beaconhouse preschool may attend the PRP without an additional resource fee. Those November payments will be retained and treated as covering the relevant programme arrangements. The RM1,000 booking fee is still payable; it will be credited towards first-term Primary 1 tuition fees if the child enrols at Beaconhouse Sri Lethia or Sri Murni. November preschool fees will not be refunded solely because the child attends the PRP.
What if I have already paid my child's preschool fees up to December?
Parents of existing Beaconhouse preschool students who have fully paid their fees up to December will not be required to make any additional payments for the Primary Ready Programme (PRP), apart from the RM1,000 booking fee. The RM400 resource fee will be fully waived for all existing Beaconhouse preschool students. The RM1,000 booking fee will subsequently be credited towards the child's first-term Primary 1 tuition fees upon enrolment at Beaconhouse Sri Lethia or Beaconhouse Sri Murni.
Is the RM400 resource fee refundable for non-Beaconhouse students?
The RM400 resource fee is normally non-refundable for non-Beaconhouse students, including where parents voluntarily withdraw. A pro-rated exception applies if Beaconhouse determines that it cannot reasonably support a child’s individual needs, as explained below.
What if SEND or other additional support needs become apparent during the PRP?
The school will discuss its observations with parents and assess the child’s individual needs. If, following that assessment, the school determines that it cannot reasonably provide the support required, participation in the PRP may be discontinued. In that situation, the RM1,000 booking fee will be refunded in full. For children charged the RM400 resource fee, only a pro-rated amount based on the period attended will be retained and the unused balance refunded. The child will not be offered a Primary 1 place at Sri Lethia or Sri Murni if the school determines that it cannot reasonably meet the child’s assessed educational and support needs. The school will explain its assessment and decision to parents. Existing Beaconhouse preschool students remain exempt from the RM400 resource fee.
What happens if Beaconhouse cancels the PRP or cannot offer a programme place?
The RM1,000 booking fee will be refunded in full if Beaconhouse cancels the programme or is unable to offer the child a PRP place. Any applicable resource-fee adjustment will be communicated by the school.
Where and when will the PRP take place?
The PRP will be conducted at both Beaconhouse Sri Lethia and Beaconhouse Sri Murni, from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Programme dates and campus allocations will be communicated by the respective schools.
What should my child wear?
Children from Beaconhouse preschools may wear their existing preschool uniforms. Children from other preschools may wear comfortable, appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for classroom activities.
Will refreshments be provided?
Morning snacks will be provided during the programme.
Can my child return to preschool or daycare after the morning session?
Children already enrolled in a Beaconhouse full-day or daycare programme may return to their respective Beaconhouse preschool for extended care or enrichment activities after the PRP. Parents must arrange transport between the PRP campus and the preschool. Families using non-Beaconhouse daycare centres should arrange any afternoon care and transport directly with their providers.
Can my child attend Beaconhouse preschool daycare in December?
Children eligible for December daycare at their Beaconhouse preschool may return for those services, subject to availability and the applicable separate daycare charges, payable directly to the preschool.
Does PRP participation guarantee admission into Primary 1?
Participation in the PRP does not automatically guarantee admission. Primary 1 enrolment at Beaconhouse Sri Lethia or Sri Murni remains subject to the school’s admission requirements, available places and ability to reasonably support the child’s individual needs.
Who is eligible for the Beaconhouse Loyalty Discount?
The Loyalty Discount is available only to eligible children from Beaconhouse preschools who proceed to Primary 1 at Beaconhouse, subject to the school’s published eligibility criteria and applicable discount terms. Children from non-Beaconhouse preschools are not eligible for this discount. For programme dates, registration and school-specific arrangements, please contact Beaconhouse Sri Lethia or Beaconhouse Sri Murni.
